A really nice and smooth grape-flavoured energy drink. It’s lower in caffeine than many other large-can drinks, which I think is no bad thing really. You get to enjoy the drink for longer without getting too jittery by the end! The flavour isn’t too strong, but very smooth as I said and no bitterness at all. A great addition to Aldi’s line of Monster-wannabee drinks.

Just a typical orange flavoured energy drink, nothing special and certainly it doesn’t stand out like the cloudy lemonade flavour. Mild and a bit boring really 🙁

Yup, it’s cloudy lemonade. There’s a slight craggy aftertaste from the sweeteners but apart from that it’s a nice classic lemonade flavour. Slightly tangy taste, on the bitter rather than sweet side but nice and unique.

The strawberry’s not only going to be wild, it’ll be livid 🙂 Not as bitter tasting as I thought it would be – usually shots are very sour and bitter. This one, whilst still on the sour side, mostly tasted of concentrated apple. There was a slight strawberry aftertaste but it’s pretty much apple all the way down. Not as highly caffeinated as many other shots, which is a good thing because a lot of them are trying to pack 200mg into a 60ml drink and that’s ridiculous. This is a more sensible 100mg dose, so only slightly more than a regular 250ml can of energy drink would contain.

This was a first for me – CBD, the legal and non-intoxicating component of cannabis. Medahuman have a range of CBD drinks available and I made the mistake of purchasing one of each variety. It turns out that only one contained caffeine and is therefore the only one eligible to receive a review on this site! But that does mean that I can say with confidence that this particular flavour, cranberry and lime, is the least disgusting on offer! Maybe it’s just my tastes, but I find bitter ‘healthy’ drinks unpleasant. This ‘Energy’ variety of Medahuman thought manages to balance some of that bitterness caused by the main ingredients of cranberry and lime and achieves a slight sweetness. At £2.50 per can it isn’t cheap, but this product does have a unique selling point and was stocked in a major UK supermarket. I can’t say that I noticed any effects from the CBD, and perhaps after 5 cans over the course of a week I am not supposed to noticed much. It worked as an energy drink though, providing enough caffeine to stop that ever present potential cold turkey headache.
I managed to find quite a few energy shots recently, and I haven’t seen many in years. This first one is a lemon-lime flavour with quite a bit of caffeine in (175mg). I’d hoped that after a few years the makers would have worked out how to make the shots sweeter tasting but sadly it’s still quite bitter. You can taste the lemon and lime flavouring, but the whole drink has a sour tang that makes you draw back the corners of your mouth in an instinctive reflex sort of way. As shots go, I’ve had worse!
Virtue. Clean energy. Healthy sounding. Healthy tasting. I think the peach is a bit too sharp to be nice personally, and they needed to ramp up the sweetness from the raspberry a bit I didn’t particularly enjoy this variety of Virtue due to that, but maybe it has its fans somewhere? It of course contains Yerba Mate (clue is in the name) which is a form of herbal tea from a South American plant related to holly according to Wikipedia! This is where the caffeine component of the drink comes from.
Cherry! In fact I drank this can the day after I tried Prime Energy Tropical and I’d have to say it’s exactly the same flavour. It’s a sweet and strong synthetic cherry flavoured drink. There’s a lot of it, and I chilled it again half-way through just to keep it at optimal drinking temperature, but I enjoyed it.

This isn’t what I’d call a usual tropical flavour at all, to me it tastes a lot more like fizzy cherry. Perhaps it’s the red can making me think that, but I’m not getting any of the usual passionfruit or mango notes at all, just slightly sour cherry. That’s nice, that’s for certain – it still has the now typical strong Prime Energy flavour profile that’s common to most of the variations, and it does get sickly for the second half of the can, but it’s nice enough.
