LSV Sours – Cherry

December 27th, 2014

Not so sour, but still quite nice. It’s just a fizzy cherry flavoured energy drink. I enjoyed it, but probably won’t buy it again. What I really want to see from drinks manufacturers is a properly sour energy drink. I want one that makes me pull my gums back over my teeth that it’s so sour. I’d buy a whole case of those!

Monster Ultra Red

November 15th, 2014

This was brought back from the USA by a friend especially for me, so I feel privileged! It’s completely calorie free, yet you couldn’t tell that from the taste. It’s part of a triple Ultra series of Monster Energy drinks which include a White and Blue edition too. This Red edition tastes like a mixture of strawberries and raspberries and is really rather refreshing. It’s certainly worth a go if you can find a can.

Relentless Origin Ultra

November 8th, 2014

Considerably better than Relentless Origin. It doesn’t suffer from that odd brewed taste of its full fat cousin, and is overall much more palatable. It’s still a bit watery, and not the best Relentless in the range, but it is low in calories. Choose this over regular Origin.

Liquid Lightning

November 1st, 2014

Forget lightning, this is like liquid marzipan. I love it, it’s so different to anything I’ve tried before and it has quite a caffeine hit to it too. This was another import from America, so you’re unlikely to see it in the UK unless your local import shop finds it for you.

Boost Energy Orange and Mango

October 18th, 2014

It’s a middle of the road tropical drink. I managed to drink the whole can, so that means it wasn’t to sour or sharp. It was, however, very sickly, and a large 500ml can like this was far too much in one go.

Relentless Cherry

July 19th, 2014

As it says on the can, it’s refreshing! Sweet and artificial, but tasty, fruity and refreshing. It’s also lower in calories per 100ml than most energy drinks, but it’s certainly not low calorie. I highly recommend this new Relentless flavour for something a bit different and long may it last!

Monster Energy: The Doctor

July 2nd, 2014

This drink is intended to honour MotoGP champion Valentino Rossi, who’s nickname is apparently “The Doctor”. This is all very confusing to me as the only person who should sport that name owns a TARDIS. Oh well, on with the drink itself. It’s described as citrus flavoured, and I guess that orange is a citrus fruit – I was expecting something a little more on the lemon and lime side of things though! It’s very orangey, but that’s not bad because it’s still quite nice. Even the large quantity of drink you get in this large can doesn’t get too sickly, so they’ve managed the balance just right.

Monster Assault

June 14th, 2014

I’m told that thisĀ is a standard issue energy drink in the US, but in the UK you can’t get hold of it. I found this in Spain so jumped at the chance of trying it without paying extortionate money to import a can. It’s really good! It tastes like fruit punch with a whole load of caramel in, and possibly a dash of cola in the background somewhere too. Whatever the flavour ingredients are (I don’t know, the can was in Spanish), they clearly work well together. I didn’t get the usual synthetic Monster flavour that is so prominent with this brand in this drink either which is a plus-point in my opinion.

Update 2021-09-23: Obviously since I first reviewed this drink over seven years ago, it has been available in the UK for quite a while. They have now updated the can design too, so I’ve updated the image on this review too. I am also now very certain that this is basically a cola flavoured drink.

No Fear Blue Storm

May 31st, 2014

Nice! It tastes like a mixture between raspberry and blueberry, along the lines of most of the other blue coloured energy drinks. It packs quite a punch being high in sugar, caffeine and volume, and being very drinkable goes down quickly too. Smooth and tasty.
