Monster Energy: Gronk
July 8th, 2017I have no idea who this Gronk guy is, and the labelling on the can doesn’t do much to help me either… so over to Google and it turns out he’s a footballer of the American variety. I’m guessing there’s some sort of sponsorship tie-in here then… trying the drink out, it’s basically a slightly tweaked regular Monster energy drink, like the one with the green M on the can but probably a little less sweet tasting. It was nice to try, but really not worth the special edition labelling.

June 10th, 2017It’s a clone! If I’d purchased this in the UK I’d have expected to find it in a budget shop costing only a few pence, but as I purchased this in Vancouver it cost a fortune! It’s really quite strong and sugary, and sparked me into life very quickly, but given its competition of the bigger brands it just doesn’t compare on taste.

Crazy Horse
May 13th, 2017This is a proper local Canadian product discovered while on holiday in Vancouver. Not only does it state it’s a “Certified Canadian Aboriginal Business” on the can, but it’s also flavoured with Saskatoon Berry which is a very local ingredient to make use of! That gives this drink a score of 5/5 for originality. The flavour itself is sweet and tangy, with a strange aftertaste – a bit like sour cherry mixed with cranberry juice.

Rockstar Boom – Whipped Strawberry
April 29th, 2017A strawberry energy drink is really unusual. It’s pretty much just Calpol in a can though! It’s reeaally sweet and sickly, and clings to your teeth, but it’s still pretty nice. I’m not sure what the ‘whipped’ part of the flavour is, but the strawberry flavour is very dominant. Definitely worth a try if you find it.

April 22nd, 2017Really nice and smooth but with a below average kick of caffeine. Black cherry makes a great flavour for an energy drink – sweet and strong but not overpowering or sickly. This drink made for a great breakfast to stave off jetlag!
