I think this variant is actually just titled ’44’, but with a Lewis Hamilton name-based endorsement thrown in the mix. I think what Monster have is a generic ‘sponsor endorsement’ recipe that they bring out with a special can design every once in a while because this tasted just like the can of Monster Energy: Gronk which I tried whilst on holiday in the USA (Gronk being an American footballer…). Well, Americans probably don’t know who Lewis is as much as us Brits are unfamiliar with American footballers, so I guess it makes sense to use a different personality in each country! As I described in the other review, it tastes nice, but it’s just a slightly tweaked version of the regular Monster Energy drink.
It’s sugar free! That’s the best bit to start with. It’s flavoured with Acai Berry, and that’s a difficult flavour to pin down in terms of a description but I’ll try. To me it tasted like mixed berries (raspberries, blackcurrants) with a slight bitterness and tang added in similar to what you’d get from a tropical drink. Because this was an American drink, it was in a larger can than we’d expect in the UK, but I liked this drink overall and I hope that Red Bull start bringing their new editions over here.

When you open the can you are greeted with the unmistakable ‘tropical’ aroma of this drink. It turns out the taste is not quite as the smell suggests – it’s fruity and slightly sharp, but much smoother than say Monster Ripper.
Containing half the caffeine of regular Rockstar Energy drinks, this organic version is like a tropical drink but leaning towards lime quite a bit. It’s really good even if you’re not fussed about the whole organic certified labelling.

I have no idea who this Gronk guy is, and the labelling on the can doesn’t do much to help me either… so over to Google and it turns out he’s a footballer of the American variety. I’m guessing there’s some sort of sponsorship tie-in here then… trying the drink out, it’s basically a slightly tweaked regular Monster energy drink, like the one with the green M on the can but probably a little less sweet tasting. It was nice to try, but really not worth the special edition labelling.
This cherry flavoured drink is really nice – but it does need to be drunk whilst cool. Once it starts to warm up it becomes a little sickly.

It’s a clone! If I’d purchased this in the UK I’d have expected to find it in a budget shop costing only a few pence, but as I purchased this in Vancouver it cost a fortune! It’s really quite strong and sugary, and sparked me into life very quickly, but given its competition of the bigger brands it just doesn’t compare on taste.
Just a pleasant smooth orange energy drink. Nothing special about it, but it has the expected Mountain Dew feel to it.
I have to admit, this drink was purchased mainly for the interesting name… <insert innuendo here>. It’s quite sickly and not refreshing, the fruit punch flavour being very strong.
