A fresh and very sweet sugar-free energy drink. It’s so sweet in fact that you’d struggle to believe it’s sugar free. Very nice, very refreshing.

Of the three new Emerge Active8 flavours that have appeared recently, this is my least favourite. Its full description is “Dragon Fruit Citrus Zing”, and zing is the right word. There’s a tangy bitterness there which I’m not enjoying too much because it leaves a sickly aftertaste. It’s very fruity and strong compared to the other drinks in the range – my recommendation would be to choose one of the other two instead.

Not sure I liked this much. It was still and very refreshing, but quite tart and tropical. I’d have preferred something a bit more lemonade-like, but having said that it was a change from the usual fizzy energy drinks.
It packs a pretty good punch for a sugar free energy drink. Taste-wise, it’s almost tropical as opposed to lemon/orange, but it’s not overly tart and has a nice smooth flavour.

I expected a lemon flavour, but it’s actually a tropical drink. High in caffeine and calorie content, it was disappointing.
I found this drink in Carrefour in Spain, complete with a UK price marked can and Spanish nutrition stickers. It was quite nice, but a bit too sweet if comparing it to other lemon/lime energy drinks. I’d place it somewhere in the middle, but Relentless probably has the lead at the moment in the citrus drinks league table. But having said that, it was perfectly adequate overall.

I really like this. It’s like a rip-off of Mountain Dew, only smoother in flavour. When I opened the bottle, it make a satisfying ‘tsskk’ sound, and a gentle mist actually started flowing from the opening like an early morning scene in a BBC costume drama. Very dramatic for such a budget drink!
This drink is intended to honour MotoGP champion Valentino Rossi, who’s nickname is apparently “The Doctor”. This is all very confusing to me as the only person who should sport that name owns a TARDIS. Oh well, on with the drink itself. It’s described as citrus flavoured, and I guess that orange is a citrus fruit – I was expecting something a little more on the lemon and lime side of things though! It’s very orangey, but that’s not bad because it’s still quite nice. Even the large quantity of drink you get in this large can doesn’t get too sickly, so they’ve managed the balance just right.

More or less the same as the full-fat version – I couldn’t even taste the usual chewy sweeteners. You might as well go for the sugar free version and spend the remaining calories on a chocolate bar as far as I’m concerned because the taste was almost identical.
