Club-Mate Zero
February 24th, 2024This was gifted to me by a family member from Germany. I’m reliably informed that “this is what all of the computer geeks drink in Germany”… so the look of the drink is very similar to Red Bull or any other caramel-coloured energy drink really. When you pour it out of the bottle it froths up, like beer does, and it has a head that hangs around for quite a while! For me though the taste wasn’t great. I found it quite bitter and, well, basically it’s a fizzy cup of cold tea. If you aren’t in to the sweetness of energy drinks then this might be a great alternative for you.
Mountain Dew Spark
October 1st, 2022Nope, I really didn’t like this one. It was very sickly and gave me heartburn. I couldn’t finish it because of that. I think if you’re going for Mountain Dew, still to the original flavour.
Matrix Energy Drink
June 25th, 2022What is The Matrix? Disappointing, Neo, disappointing. Yes it’s in an interestingly shaped bottle containing 700ml, but my bottle at least was almost flat. There was a fizz when I opened the bottle, and a few bubbles in the drink, but it tastes totally flat. Maybe this was an unfortunate one off, but the taste was still a clone, and a cheap tasting one at that.
Monster HydroSport Superfuel Charge
July 24th, 2021This is the sister flavour to ‘Hang Time’ which I stumbled across whilst at the Post Office / Bargain Booze dropping a parcel off. It was sitting all alone on the shelf so I just had to put it out of its misery. It’s a non-carbonated, quite large bottle of energy drink with no real description as to what the flavour might be. The only clue I could see was the orange coloured text on the bottle. Like the Hang Time version of the drink, the flavour is difficult to identify, but I’m pretty certain that there’s orange in there somewhere, possibly mixed with some other similar citrus fruits. It’s pretty nice and tangy with a large caffeine kick purely due to the volume of liquid.

Monster HydroSport Superfuel Hang Time
September 19th, 2020It’s a refreshing and still sports drink of an unknown flavour! Some sort of fruit but I genuinely couldn’t tell you what it is. It might be a very watered down version of the Monster Zero (blue label) drink, but it really is tricky to identify it. It’s nice anyway, so give it a go. Being non-carbonated, it’s very easy to drink.

Lucozade Revive – Lemon and Lime
September 5th, 2020New Lucozade time! I love lemon and lime drinks… I know Lucozade doesn’t have much caffeine in, so you won’t get a kick from it in that department, but it is very refreshing and easy to drink. A nice summery tipple.
Ka Reload Black Cherry
August 8th, 2020It’s ok I suppose! Basically, it’s a cherry Lucozade rip-off. To be fair, it’s not far off in flavour, it’s just missing that typical Lucozadeness (??) that I’d describe as the almost trademark way it feels when it fizzes in your mouth. It think Lucozade must have patented a special bubble shape or something for that because no other fizzy drink feels the same. Back to Ka Reload… yeah, it’s drinkable but not very refreshing or caffeinated.

August 1st, 2020I guess it’s like the Ford of sports drinks world??? Geddit? No? Oh well. It’s fake tropical Lucozade. Not much in the way of caffeine but also not as packed full of sugar.
Radnor Energy: Lemon and Lime
June 27th, 2020Amazing! So refreshing and with a decent hit of caffeine (even if they do call it Coffeine – Caffeine anhydrous from coffee bean. It’s lightly carbonated and fresh and fruity.
